Remembering John Lewis and C.T. Vivian
The Honorable John Lewis,
1940-2020
A 34-year career in Congress was only a part of the legacy of Representative John Lewis. Very early, from his role in leading and founding SNCC, Representative Lewis has found a way to live his mantra of getting into “Good Trouble”. The youngest member of the Big 6 who keynoted the March on Washington, he is notably remembered for his courage in the face of brutal police brutality during “Bloody Sunday” and the Selma to Montgomery March.
Reverend C.T. Vivian,
1924-2020
Rev. Vivian’s work spanned across generations and genres. He advised Presidents, labor unions, banks, governmental agencies and many more. Often recognized from his work with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and his work with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He was a lead strategist in the Selma Movement where the noted Selma to Montgomery march had its origin.
